The 2021 NFT landscape
2021 will always be remembered as the Year of NFTs in Web 3. This nascent segment of the crypto market had finally made its entrance. Beeple sold his every days masterpiece in an auction for $69 million. The Bored Ape Yacht Club went from a couple hundred dollar mint to a couple hundred million dollar market cap. NBA Top Shot had brought people in droves and there was no going back. Fast forward to 2022 and one thing is certain, the builders are continuing to build. We are seeing that continue with the Illuvium Land Sale.
Illuvium made the decision early on that they would build throughout the 2021 mania. The result? A Land Sale less than a week away with ACTUAL UTILITY. A game that is playable today for private beta testers. Real, tangible game play like nothing ever seen before in Web 3. These are the early days and 99% of projects are “Vanity NFTs” with promises of big utility in the years to come. Illuvium isn’t making promises, they’re delivering.
Cryptic Projects
Most projects in Web 3 are extremely cryptic because they don’t have the team to build out the product. Many are starting to assemble that team, but only one has a workable AAA game and a team of 250+. Illuvium is a chance to invest in results, not promises. The community narrative has changed from Wen to How. How did they pull this off? How do you join a completely new space, break away from the pfp mold out of the gate and build a AAA gaming studio in a fraction of time that most have in the past? And how do you break from the hype cycle, constant floor checks and shut down the FUD?
Illuvium took their time to build
For the first time in NFT history we have a team that didn’t put the cart before the horse. We know exactly what Illuvium has because they’ve been including us each step of the way. There’s no guessing games, no threads on what people think is happening and no speculating on cryptic tweets. Illuvium is the real deal. They have the people, process and product necessary to take this space to the next level.
It’s time to demand more from the projects we invest in. There is a lot of money being invested based on promises. Nowhere else does this happen. The speculation is rampant and the bar is about to be raised. The Illuvium Land Sale is about to rewrite the rules and set a new standard for the entire industry.
