Shifting our Focus: Where Land?

An overview of each region

Now that we know Wen, it’s time to shift our focus to where. Deciding on a region is something I gave little to no thought on prior to the date announcement. Then with one tweet from Kieran it hit me like a ton of bricks.

I was underprepared…by a lot. Luckily we have three weeks to figure things out and this article will give you an introduction to each of our options. Let’s run down the list:

Abyssal Basin

This region is basically a giant swamp. If trudging through knee deep mud is your style then this land could be for you. This region is home to Water types, but honestly who knows what kind of Illuvials could pop up from the shadows of this place.

Not to mention they have exploding pumpkins? All this trouble may be worth it, however, if you are looking for a land rich in Hydrogen. Maybe Atlas just likes a good mud bath?

Halcyon Sea

Keeping with the water theme we have the beautiful Halcyon Sea. This actually seems more like Atlas’ speed. Similar to the Abyssal Basin this region is rich in Hydrogen and home base for Water type Illuvials.

It also happens to contain the lowest point of all the regions. If you buy a plot here give me a call for a good deal on flood insurance. Aaron has also hinted in discord that Rhamphyre likes to hang out on the beach. Seems like a decent choice, especially with these mega shells they have washing ashore!

Shardbluff Labyrinth

Next we have the Shardbluff region. I’m going to go out on a limb here and say if you’re looking to mine shards this would be a good place to stop off. In Illuvium Zero this land will be rich in Carbon. In the open world, Shardbluff will be home to a lot of Earth Affinities.

Who knows what twists and turns are around each corner, but it looks daunting to say the least. I think I prefer the beach.

Crimson Waste

I’ve seen Grant spend a ton of time on this region in YouTube streams and honestly it’s probably my favorite. Just look at all the color! It’s a world of endless possibilities. Add in toxic waste and you have a recipe for anything. Crimson Waste is rich in Silicon and fire types appear here quite often.

It’s absolutely stunning. I think I’ll be spending quite a bit of time here both in Illuvium Zero and the Open World.

Taiga Boreal

Taiga Boreal, the great White North. This region is rich in Carbon and Air type Illuvials are commonly seen. It is also home to your favorite Penguin Illuvial! This is a very unique landscape and who knows what mysteries may be laying underneath the ice.

If you’re an adventurer looking to rough it in subzero temperatures then Taiga Boreal may be just what you’re searching for.

Crystal Shores

This region is shrouded in mystery. We haven’t seen much artwork about the landscape, but the lore is very interesting. “The Crystal freezes things in time. In Crystal Shores almost everything is frozen in time. The gameplay mechanic will be that player got to unfreeze parts of the world in order to explore it.” Where do I sign up? I’m all in on time exploration. Let’s do it.

Honestly if the plants look this good, I can’t imagine how incredible the rest of the region looks. This region will be rich in Silicon and home to UNKNOWN Illuvials. Let the speculation begin! I’m very excited for Crystal Shores.

Brightland Steppes

Last but certainly not least we have Brightland Steppes. This region is iconic and will be one of the first we can explore in the Open World. The land is rich with Carbon and common to Nature Illuvials.

The terrain looks treacherous to traverse, but oddly habitable. It’s certainly a fun way to begin our journey through Illuvium.

So which will you choose? Each region is unique in their own way. Game theory and speculation will be rampant. We have 3 weeks to decide. The Land Sale begins on June 2nd. We are just getting started on this journey and I cannot wait to see how the Land Sale unfolds. Good luck to all!

Thank You
